MY HOW TIME FLIES!

Last year my sister and I started a blog sight to record our journey to weight loss. (Here's where I roll my eyes) Because I'm here to tell you that not only did I NOT lose any weight, I actually picked up a few extra pounds. I call them my new little friends and they cling to me like fleas to a cat in a bathtub.

You know that saying about friends in high places? Well, I wish my friends were in high places, I wouldn't mind being a little bustier, but no! These friends coagulate around my southern hemisphere where they bounce and wobble like bobble heads.

And so another year goes by with nary a single pound lost. But rejoice! For that is not all! I gained more than just fat this year, I gained an understanding that just might make next year different. I discovered that keeping anxiously engaged in a good cause, staying busy doing something I enjoy more than eating, being responsibly engrossed in a higher purpose, will keep me away from the refrigerator and free of mindless snacking and boredom eating. This discovery alone could be the barrier reef that breaks this wave of self destructive behavior.

Were that all I learned, I would take the plunge and create a wake the likes this world has never seen, but alas, there's more. I also discovered that when I drink, what I consider to be large amounts of water, the fat seems to drain away. For a few weeks, when I was good about my water consumption, I noticed my stomach getting smaller and my jeans getting roomier. Unfortunately, I lost focus and stopped drinking the prescribed amounts of water, but in that experience I learned that maintaining hydration with regards to fat loss works.

I now have two new weapons in my arsenal against obesity. Stay busy and drink lots of water. Could it be that easy? Nay. Lets be honest. It will take a lot more than that to lose all this hard earned weight, but those are the two new tools I'm going to take with me into the new year. I'll add them to the good things I'm already doing and hope to see some improvement.

And so, we go into yet another year. May I suggest we throw out one bad habit and replace it with one good one. Good luck to anyone trying to lose weight for the twenty first year in a row. May this be the banner year you've dreamed of.
